Francis perished in a plane crash near Lake Placid, New York, on October 1st, 2023. He was in his 70s.
When Francis and Richard McSpadden took off in a Cessna 177 from Lake Placid Airport, the plane “experienced an emergency after takeoff.”
The plane attempted to land back at the airport but failed and crashed into a ravine nearby. Francis and McSpadden died simultaneously.
