Matt Riddle has expressed his interest in facing NJPW World TV Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi, but when asked about taking his “420 Bro” persona to Japan, Riddle indicated it might not be the wisest move.

During an appearance on Signed by Superstars, Riddle was asked if he might face the Bullet Club in Japan, to which he responded, “I’ve read a lot of things. The 420 Bro probably won’t make it to Japan.”

When the host suggested that Riddle might be concerned about getting into legal trouble in Japan, Riddle clarified, “Regardless of what people think, I’ve never been arrested. I’ve never been arrested, I don’t have a criminal record. I want to keep it that way. Regardless of what people think, I’m going to keep it that way. That’s what we’re going to do. 420 Bro stays in America.”

Riddle had been off WWE television for some time after he accused an officer at JFK airport of sexual harassment in an Instagram post, which turned out to be completely false.

During that time, Riddle also reportedly failed a WWE drug test and went to rehab in December 2022. Despite various controversies and legal issues in the past, Riddle is focused on maintaining a clean record and staying out of legal trouble.

Matt Riddle’s decision to keep his “420 Bro” persona in America and not take it to Japan is driven by his desire to maintain a clean legal record. What are your thoughts on Riddle’s decision? Leave us know in the comments.
